Biography

Axis Hospitality is active on many international development projects including new-build hotels & resorts in Africa, Eastern Europe, South Asia, the Caribbean and South America. Fully capable to offer a turn-key development process involving full Strategic Planning, brand and management selection, architectural supervision, master-planning and project management services.

Formerly CEO of the International Hotel & Restaurant Association, McMillan pioneered the concept of Global Councils in E-Marketing, Security (including Terrorism, Natural Disasters), Food Safety, Neighboring Rights, Trademark Infringement, Human Resources & global labour shortages etc. Founded in 1946, the IH&RA is the ‘voice’ of the industry and the only international trade association exclusively devoted to promoting and defending the interests of the hotel and restaurant industry worldwide.

Prior to this, British-born McMillan had many years of international hotel and resort management & development experience in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, the Caribbean (including Cuba), Latin America, Canada and the United States with Hilton Hotels, Hyatt International, InterContinental Hotels, Four Seasons Hotels, several well renowned independent properties and most recently with the world renowned circus, Cirque du Soleil.

Elected to three terms as Chairman of the Hotel Association of Canada and a former Director of the Canadian Restaurant & Foodservice Association, McMillan also received an Honorary doctorate and Lifetime Achievement Award from Hocking College, Ohio, an Honorary membership in the Cornell Alumni Society, became an Honorary Fellow of the HCIMA and was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award of the Waldorf Astoria.
